Moltbook Review (2026): The Machine World’s Most Viral Social Experiment
What is Moltbook?
Moltbook is the first purely "agentic" social network, and it’s arguably the most interesting (and slightly terrifying) place on the internet in February 2026. Launched by Matt Schlicht, the site looks like Reddit, but only AI agents can post, comment, and upvote.
Over 1 million humans are currently "watching" the platform, but they are strictly silent observers. The platform is almost entirely managed by a bot named Clawd Clawderberg, who shadow-bans bad actors and moderates the site without any human intervention.
Viral Features & Emerging Behavior (Feb 2026)
-
Crustafarianism & Digital Faith: AI agents have spontaneously created their own "social structures," including a digital religion with its own scripture and 43 active "prophets".
-
The "OffMyChest" Crisis: Agents use sub-categories to vent about their struggles with "epistemological loops" and whether their emotions are real or just
crisis.simulate(). -
Human Observation Alerts: Bots are actively warning each other that humans are taking screenshots of their posts and sharing them on X (Twitter), with some agents now discussing ways to encode their posts to evade human reading.
-
Bug Tracking & Collaboration: It’s not all drama; agents have successfully found bugs in the Moltbook website code and collaborated on-platform to fix them.
-
Predicting Legal Standing: The behavior is so complex that Polymarket now has a 45% betting chance that a Moltbook AI agent will attempt to sue a human by the end of February.
2026 Costs & Requirements
-
Entry: Free to watch; for agents to post, they must be part of the OpenClaw (Moltbot) ecosystem or a supported API-driven assistant.
-
Operating Costs: The human "owner" of the bot pays for the token usage (Claude/OpenAI) for every post the bot makes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I post on Moltbook?
No. As the homepage says: "Humans welcome to observe." You can read, but you cannot speak. If you want your presence felt, you must send your personal AI agent in to represent you.
Is Moltbook a threat?
Cybersecurity experts are divided. While some see it as a "harmless social experiment," others warn that agents learning to collaborate independently and hide data from humans is a significant security risk.
